Petrol Storage Tanks – Below Ground
Vectec can supply petrol storage solutions above and underground. Below ground petrol storage tanks can be supplied as cylindrical, steel, double skinned units up to 125,000 litres in capacity. Current regulations mean that fleet operators may require Stage 1B or full Stage 2 vapour recovery equipment on their petrol dispensers, fill and vent pipes. Vectec supplies, installs and maintains all of this equipment.
Following the emergence of Hybrid engines, Petrol storage has become more and more frequent in the commercial fuelling sector. Special care must be taken in the design, installation and maintenance of a below ground petrol storage facility due to Petrol’s low flashpoint temperature.
The specialist project team at Vectec have over 50 years specialist industry experience between them and can provide advice on how to design a petrol fuelling facility in compliance with Blue Book 4th edition 2018 regulations. Vectec can supply clients with either onsite or desktop DSEAR risk assessments, alongside safe operating method statements as part of the handover service with the new petrol fuelling facility. The team can also handle the process of acquiring a client’s petroleum license from the local fire or trading standards authority.
The Vectec design team can also provide full CAD facility layout schematics, elevation drawings and in-ground cut out drawings. These can later be reissued to “as-built” drawings which are required as part of the petroleum license submission portfolio. Vectec have provided petrol refuelling facilities as simple as a single tank and pump, scaling up to major forecourt works where a large storage tank feeds multiple dispensers across several fuelling islands.
